Give Thanks

Since March of this year when I reached the one year cancer free mark, I have tried my best to remember that everyday is a gift and that no matter what happens on any given day there are many many things to be grateful for.  Some days you have to look a little harder to find the things that you may be taking for granted or that somedays they just don't seem to be a gift of any kind.

So as we enter this holiday season I am trying to be thankful for all of the things that are the blessings in my life - small and large.

I am thankful first and foremost for my children. Autism was not what I wanted for these boys but they are so freaking amazing, I am blessed and have to remember that I was chosen to be their mommy for a reason.  I am overwhelmed everyday by the obstacles that they have to overcome and am thankful that I get to be the one that guides them through their course.

I am thankful for my husband even though right now we do not see eye to eye on most things he is a good dad and he works really hard for all of us.

I am thankful for my family through thick and thin they always are there for me

I am thankful for my in-laws they are my back bone and help me with the kids while I was working.  I couldn't do so many things without them.

I am thankful for my friends who listen to my rants and raves and sorrows and joys patiently and without judgement or strife.  You are all my heroes.

I am thankful for my running shoes and my new found relationship with running, it is the clearest my head has been in YEARS.

I am thankful for the online fitness community and friends I have found on this journey of getting healthy.

I am thankful for my doctors and their staffs and all the wisdom, knowledge and support they gave through my battle and my kids battle.  I am blessed with the best medical staff that I could have found.

I am thankful for my sweet dogs that were my babies before I had babies, and as much as they are neglected now they are the best running buddies I could have asked for because they really truly love to go out there.  I haven't found a person yet that will run with me, but Bosco and Peanut will go anytime they see my shoes come out of the closet.

I am also so thankful for all the awesome organizations that do so many things so our kids can participate.  Surfers Healing - still my most favorite mom day.  Goes Martial Arts for putting together an ASD class and letting our kids do what normal kids do.  For Wellspring Social Skills group a great monthly play group to help moms and kids play together.  You are all great and I appreciate everything more than you can imagine.

This weekend, I took my kids to the park to play for a couple hours before the big rain storm on Sunday.  When we were leaving I told them to hold hands and walk to the car.  Now, to those of you that know my kids especially Franklin he is one to be fond of his brother or having to do anything with him, but they did hold hands and walk to the car and it was a moment that took my breath away, and I got this feeling of calm that they are going to be okay and Jackson will always watch out for Franklin.  It was a moment I don't think I'll ever forget and it was one that I actually felt I saw God bless my kids.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless You.
